
Follow the steps below to plan your work party!!
- Obtain funding (Grant funding needs to be requested in advance) if needed
- Meet with landowners: reach agreement on:
a. Work to be accomplished document #1a
b. Decide which forms to use (theirs or ours)
c. Put together a Communications plan document #2a
d. Put together an emergency action and evacuation plan
documents #2b, #3a and #3b
3. Assemble the work crew
On the first day of the work party:
a. go over the tailgate safety document document #6a
b. Have every volunteer sign the field sheet to agree to the Liability Waiver, if under the age of 18,
not accompanied by a parent or guardian, must have a "Permission to Treat” form from the
parent or guardian, before the minor is allowed to participate in a trail work project. document #6b
c. Divide up the work crews if multiple jobs are to be accomplished, determine if personnel have any
physical limitations and assign work accordingly.
d. Ensure work crews each have a medical First Aid Kit, and someone has current CPR training. document #5
e. Provide job briefings, use check list and attendance roster for each briefing.
Participants in volunteer trail work projects must provide a name and phone number for
personal contact information.
f. Brief on the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
i. Discuss PPE (Personnel Protective Equipment) document #8
ii. Discuss Communication Plan document #2a
iii. Discuss Emergency and Evacuation Plans document #3a
At the completion the work party:
a. Return required forms desired by landowner.
b. Fill in incident reports (If needed) and file with the President and the Safety Officer document #9b
c. Finalize all Field Sheets. If funding came from grants, turn in correctly completed Field Sheets to the
Grants Administrator
